Whose planet is this – the acceleration
long documentary film synopsis
Film-essay, mosaic on the border of fiction and fairy tale
Every morning when I wake up, I don’t know what’s there, waiting for me: the 21st century has stepped deep into our lives. I find it hard to get by on the simplest things (Narrator): “And where do I get this feeling from, what is it that is clouding my lifestyle?”
A friend of mine, about 65 years old, she can’t take her pension from bank account, but she makes beautiful cookies and types well on an old Olivetti machine.
My sister’s grandsons don’t know how to tie a shoelace or cut cheese for breakfast, but they handle the phone well with their eyes ruined and their crooked spines.
A delivery service is there, we’re ordering something, we’re not trying anything. The couriers are handing over the closed packages.
The educated Mrs. X is unsuccessfully trying to travel, she cannot cope with airports where there are no officers but only machines. She doesn’t even know how to get out of the airport and take a cab, even though she’s travelled a lot before.
A young woman obtainend her doctorate in America 20 years ago, she is employed by NASA. Her dreams of science and discovery are scattered, she thinks she has turned into a government official on a high salary.
Couples sit at the coffee shop, they do not communicate with each other, they are looking for “friends”. There are some people somewhere out there. No one kisses on the street. Children are born artificially, without the presence of nature.
Granny Smilja makes the cakes, and then the beginning of this century brought everything in boxes. Tastes and smells are lost in a sea of haste where there is no time for devotion to beauty.
The old neighbour cries in front of the store, because she realises that she will no longer be able to beg, since in a short period of time only plastic or applications are expected to be in use to withdraw the money. Pickpockets without jobs, waiters without tips.
Two friends outside the school sitting with headphones in their ears and phones in their hands. They listen to music and watch movies. No records, no record players, the music comes from headphones tucked deep in the ears, so it’s not shared with anyone.
Big crowd at the mall, line in front of the cash register, first in line pays with personal checks, behind the person pays through the app. She doesn’t know what he’s showing, and he wonders what the checks are.
The church Ružica on Kalemegdan is full of believers at Christmas, believers are different, there are more women, but not everyone knows the rituals in the church.

Explanation
The plot of this film is in the narrator’s tablet, based on true events.
Completely coming out of the streams of life that we knew in the 20th century brought difficulties to the existence of people, to understanding reality. It seems that joy has been abolished, that pleasure has been turned upside down. There is fear and greed. Values seem to be forgotten.
Our parents and we almost had no differences, we inherited habits, ethics and aesthetics. Our children are not made of this “material”, hence the misunderstanding that is not generational but essential, as if we do not belong to the same race, or planet. New ethics and aesthetics have not yet been built. No big ideas. And those big ideas can’t be created by machines. On the other hand, our survival is not possible without those machines.
The cyber world has captured the attention of most of the planet’s inhabitants, whether the planet belongs to the nets or to the living people. In the 21st century, a window opened into the new world, and most people don’t know their way around it.
At some point, we must speak about the problems and understand them. The process is clearly irreversible.
When you look closely at it, it is not that the biggest problem is of a technical nature; somehow we would overcome that. The bigger problem is that a large number of unanswered questions have been asked before humanity. The future seems so distant and unpredictable. For a short time, it brought about rifts in people, a lack of motivation. The distances have approached, communication has become easy, and yet no one knows or cares.
The middle-aged are the worst off, they’re chasing a new time, but they don’t belong to it mentally. They float and steal a little technical knowledge and wait for the end. The beauty of life is no longer a topic for anyone.
Multinationals companies all over the world, in no time and without notice, have stripped people of their humanity and created hordes of desperate people.
The end of the 20th and the beginning of the 21st century has crumpled people’s lives into such chaos that no one remembers what happened yesterday. The planet is under new fear.
Civilisation has grown in alienation, even villages are no longer what they used to be.
We suffocate in pollution, we suffocate in shame, but we still find it hard to find the answer to where our world is going. Life on-line is not our life, it is not the life of young people, but unfortunately they do not have the experience of another life.
Young people do not have a position on established values, the elderly are no longer the same, they watch Turkish series in the countryside. Young people do not watch the Academy Awards because they do not have respectable and professional role models. All this together destroys the world in which we lived until the beginning of the millennium. In 2000, rare were the ones who had an e-mail, or a cell phone. The Berlin Festival did not have an e-mail in that period, but communicated by fax machine, while the Ministry of Culture of Serbia only received its first fax machine.
Movies are now made by phone, as are video games; masterpieces and professionalism are out of fashion.
These memories no longer exist, as if the planet had decided to change people, and they never noticed it, the planet surrounded itself with new lines, and the citizens remained in the void. A window has opened through which we look at our reality, but we do not participate in it.
The narrator and his tablet in the film form the backbone of the story and the backbone for different cases (mosaic).
The narrator most accurately moulds the found and recorded authentic phenomena from real life. And it establishes a narrative approach to the stage, to spot drama.
